Halloween candy is easy to find. A popcorn gift that people actually finish is harder. Every October the office candy bowl fills with leftover fun-size bars nobody wants, while the good stuff is gone before lunch. Our Halloween collection is the good stuff. It has two flavors you can only get in October, plus gift boxes that already do the mixing for you. We popped it so you don't have to.
Meet the two October flavors
RIP is popcorn tumbled with Oreos in chocolate, then topped with gummy worms crawling out of the "dirt." Adults buy it as a dessert. Kids rate it by how many worms they find, and nobody has ever finished a bag and asked for fewer worms. Witches Brew is the cauldron batch: caramel corn with Halloween candies stirred in, so every handful is a little different. No eye of newt, just real butter in the caramel.
Both flavors are packaged in a facility that also packages wheat, egg, and peanuts.
Ready-made gifts (the mixing is done)
- 12-cup Halloween set: six cups of RIP and six of Witches Brew. Good for party favors, classroom treats, or a front-desk bowl people will keep coming back to.
- Spooky sampler: a nine-cup gift box for the person who can't pick just one flavor.
- Single large bags of RIP or Witches Brew if you're filling your own bowls.
A 16 oz cup holds 2 cups of popcorn and costs $4, or 3 for $10. For a party, plan on about 1 gallon per 8 people. Teenagers count as two people. ;)
Recipe: Graveyard Popcorn Cups (no oven needed)
This turns a bag of RIP into a tiny cemetery you can eat. It takes about 15 minutes and works well as a party table centerpiece that also happens to be dessert.
Makes 8 cups. You'll need:
- 1 large bag of RIP
- 1 box (3.4 oz) instant chocolate pudding, made with 2 cups cold milk
- 8 clear plastic cups
- 8 oval cookies (such as Milano) for tombstones
- A tube of white or black decorating icing
- Extra gummy worms, because there are never enough
- Dig the grave. Spoon about ¼ cup of pudding into the bottom of each cup.
- Add the dirt. Pile a generous handful of RIP on top. The Oreo-chocolate coating already looks like freshly turned soil.
- Carve the tombstones. Write "RIP," "BOO," or the name of whoever ate the last cookie on each one with icing.
- Plant them. Push a tombstone into the back of each cup so it stands up.
- Raise the dead. Tuck a gummy worm or two so they look like they're crawling out of the popcorn.
- Serve right away. Assemble close to party time so the popcorn stays crunchy. Pudding and popcorn can only be roommates for about an hour.
Timing (don't get ghosted)
These flavors disappear when October does.
